First ODI, Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh's excellent batting, Australia's target of 295 runs to beat England

England won the toss and elected to bat. Australia scored 294 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. Glenn Maxwell made 77 off 59 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 4 fours. Marsh scored 73 runs. Among the other batsmen for the Kangaroos were David Warner (6), Aaron Finch (16), Marcus Stevens (43), Marnos Labushin (21), Alex Carey (10), Pat Commons (9), Mitchell Starc (19) and Adam Zampa (5).
 England fast bowlers Joffra Archer and Mark Wood led the way with 3.3 wickets and Adil Rashid took 2 wickets while Chris Vokes took one wicket.
